Besides being the most exported and most imitated Italian wine in the world, "Prosecco" is also the name of the best production area, a small region inside the province of Treviso, part of the Veneto region, the same as Venice and Verona, in the north-east of Italy.
Since Roman times this area has been producing a white wine with an indigenous grape, called Glera that is still now the basis for the production of the Prosecco wine.
In 2019 the area, that includes the territories of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, with a marvellous landscape of smooth and unique hills, was nominated a World Heritage site by UNESCO.Â
The seemingly endless tastings of Proseccos during this wonderful tour will forever change one’s understanding and appreciation of the Glera grape, the Prosecco-making process, and its delightful bubbly product. The experience teaches that Prosecco is not only an occasion or aperitivo wine, but a way of life and to be enjoyed as any drinker sees fit.
But not only Prosecco! Several traditions are connected to and shared with the southern neighboring regions, yet are also unique with family-owned cheese makers, coffee roasters, the highest quality Prosecco wineries, silk and wool factories, the best red radicchio, the legendary origin of grappa, and the world-celebrated Tiramisu.
